Avoid walking on wet soil - it compacts and damages the structure. Use a plank to access bare patches.

Cut back woody plants now: Buddleja, Caryopteris, deciduous Ceanothus, hardy fuchsias and Santolina.

Stay off frosted grass to prevent yellowing. If the weather is mild, do a light first mow with mower blades raised.

Check container plants for moisture and protect early-flowering buds with fleece during cold snaps.

Sort through old garden products - dispose of expired sprays and fertilisers responsibly at your local recycling centre.
